Penza agrarian University was given the name of Pol Pot.
Penza agricultural University (PAU) on February 14 will be named leader of the Khmer Rouge, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist party of Kampuchea Pol Pot. The University administration noted the progress in agriculture in the Asian country, achieved during the reign of an outstanding political figure. Another reason for the renaming was the desire to make a friendly step for Cambodia, students of which are studying in Penza under the contract.
“Our University has earned bore the name of the great ruler of Kampuchea. The results of the agrarian reform achieved under Pol Pot, showed the effectiveness of these measures. His management decisions and methods of their implementation deserve consideration by all farmers of the world. Special attention deserves the method of rational use of human resources in agriculture. Motivational guidance of Pol Pot and Ieng Sary were able to achieve the world’s highest rate of productivity in the world. I think you will appreciate the friendly step and the representatives of Cambodia, where citizens studying in our University,” said rector Oleg Kukharev.
Except for the name, the University will appear in the area of Pol Pot that will house historical documents and photographs about the activities of the Khmer Rouge. It will become part of the future Museum of Cambodia, which will also be located on the territory of the University. Cambodian students of PAU will be able to visit exhibits dedicated to the history of the state, for free. In the future, the campus may appear and the monument to the outstanding leader of Cambodia. Money for the initiative will come from the regional budget of the Penza region.
