The company has already taken measures against tens of thousands of accounts in the UK
Facebook has launched a UK advertising campaign to warn users about the danger of fake news. Ads inform about the 10 ways to identify false stories.
The company encourages a critical attitude to the headers that sound sensational, and to check the sources before distributing the publication.
Facebook will remove fake profiles and stop distribution of publications which look implausible.
“We have developed new ways to identify and remove fictitious accounts, which can spread false news. So, in the end, get to the root of the problem,” said Simon Milner, Director of policy of Facebook in Britain.
It is reported that in the UK Facebook has already taken action regarding tens of thousands of fake accounts.
Previously, Facebook has covered about 30 000 of fake accounts that were spreading the fake news on the eve of presidential elections in France.
