Social network Facebook has launched a feature that should help users to protect their photos.
A new feature has become available to residents of India.
When this function is activated by the user around his profile picture appears as a thin blue frame with a shield icon at the bottom. After that, the visitors will not be able to download a profile picture or send it to someone in a private message.
This decision is due to the fact that the women’s photos are often used by scammers. They collect available in Facebook pictures, and then based on them create profiles on Dating sites or used in advertising. In India, for example, women often refuse to load in their profile pics showing their faces for this reason.
In addition, users can add the profile picture translucent layer with one of the available patterns. This function is intended to restrict the ability to take screenshots of the screen.
As the developers of Facebook, according to the results of testing new functions in India, the social network will take a decision about its launch in other countries.
