Facebook has removed 97 Russia managed accounts

The administration of Facebook removed 97 managed by Russia of pages, groups and accounts which were focused on Ukraine and spread false information.

“The people who stand behind this activity, used fake accounts to manage pages and groups to spread their content and increase user engagement and to attract them to move to other sites with diverse content,” the message reads.

It is reported that all have been removed 62 account, 10 pages and 25 groups. On some accounts, there were 34 thousands of subscribers, and at least one of the advocacy groups was 86 thousand readers.

These pages are published news of a social nature relating to local and political events. In particular, among the main topics to highlight the military conflict in the Donbas, Russian politics, political news from the EU and Ukraine and civil war in Syria.

Added that the administration of social networks have provided information about such activity in Facebook relevant law enforcement authorities, politicians and industry stakeholders.
