The price of gas for the population will increase by 17.6%.
Two weeks ago, the media announced the visit of Finance Minister Alexander danyluk in Washington. A key aim of the negotiations was to persuade the IMF to give the nod to a temporary freeze of gas tariffs. It became known that the Fund was “categorically refused to change previously agreed with the government the conditions for determining the price of gas for the population for heating season 2017-2018, which should lead to rise of 17.6%”.
In this formulation contains the answer that will follow the failure of the IMF – the increase in utility services for Ukrainians.
THE INCREASE IN GAS 17.6%: AS IT IS IN UAH
According to the calculations of “Naftogaz”, the price of gas should increase by 1117 hryvnias for one thousand cubic meters. Ukrainian family on average uses three thousand cubic meters during the heating season.
It is possible to talk about plus 3351 UAH for six months or more 558 hryvnia to the monthly payment.
WHY THE GOVERNMENT LOBBIED FOR THE FREEZING OF GAS PRICES
Prolonged freezing of gas prices could not be – a maximum until January 1, 2018. In the draft budget for next year is already incorporated a possible increase of tariffs for housing and communal services. And not raising rates would be fraught with colossal failure of a profitable part of the budget.
Temporary preservation of the current tariffs lobbied for the same purpose. Starting this heating season number of households that receive the subsidy will be reduced by 2-2.5 million.
If we add to this the increase in tariffs, the percentage of payment for utilities will be reduced to critical. However, the tension in the society and so utterly high. Therefore, the government would at least slightly reduce the intensity, which could in some form be achieved by freezing the price of gas.
WHEN MORE EXPENSIVE GAS
According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 187 of 22 March 2017, the new (increased) the price of gas is supposed to be posted July 1.
The Ministry of economic development did not. However, “Naftogaz of Ukraine” could not pull and not to conclude contracts with producers of heat.
As a result, the contracts have been signed, but in the “cost of gas” was given the old (current) price of gas. However, in addition to the documents it was recorded: “In the case of determining the government of the other rates, to adopt a new mandatory.”
This means that soon the Cabinet will be obliged to determine a new price. And it is likely that in November the Ukrainians to potjazhelevshie bills.
