The Institute of demography confident that the population of our state by 2050 thinned to 5.5 million.
This forecast is not final, but only an assumption, but still possible scenario is still depressing.
According to pessimistic forecasts, the working-age population of Ukraine (and it is the citizens aged 20 to 59 years) to decrease to 6.6 million, while the number of people above the 60 years will grow by 2.6 million. The level of aging of the local population (meaning the number of elderly people ) will rise to 33%.
By 2050, the equivalent of Ukraine’s total population and retirees will be 1.5 to 1: that is, one pensioner in our country is only half the able-bodied man, and today the figure is 2.6 to 1.
Note that at the beginning of this year the population decreased by nearly 140 thousand people and amounted to 42 million 444 thousand Ukrainians. Therefore, if Ukraine does not begin to solve the problem of the demographic crisis (we have in mind not only the increase in the number of births and decrease of mortality rate but also points, which occurs outflow of citizens), the researchers predict will be true, and by 2050 the population will shrink by almost 6 million.
