Experts evaluated the damage to Ukraine from the Egyptian duties on steel

The expert described the amount of losses from the Egyptian duties on Ukrainian metal.

Temporary duties on steel rebar produced in Ukraine, will damage the domestic industry of several hundred million dollars.

This view was expressed by economist Alexander Okhrimenko.

“You have to understand that today Egypt is ranked fifth in the list of countries that buy the products of Ukrainian industry, which is 5%. But most of all in this country we supply metal and metal products. Now the pace of exports to Egypt began to fall and, if to speak in figures, in the end, we will receive 5% drop in exports. The money is several hundred million dollars per year”, – said Alexander Okhrimenko.

At the same time, answering specifying question, the introduction of temporary duties on Ukrainian metal is not particularly affect the country’s GDP.
We will remind, earlier it became known that the Ministry of trade and industry of Egypt in the framework of the anti-dumping investigation against steel bars for construction origin from Ukraine, China, Turkey imposed provisional duties.
