The majority of Ukrainians goes to 19-year-old cars.
Experts calculated the average age of vehicles in Ukraine is 19.6 years.
This is the worst figure since 2000-ies. This was reported by General Director of the motor insurance Bureau of Ukraine Volodymyr Shevchenko. In Europe this figure is 8.6 years.
Ukraine has registered more than 9.1 million vehicles, of which 53.4% of the cars produced in the Soviet Union and the CIS. In Ukraine, about 20% of the cars produced before 1985. Most popular cars VAZ, GAZ, ZAZ, as well as Volkswagen, Daewoo, Ford, Opel.
So old “car age” shows that half of registered vehicles it is time to dispose of or to create rarities for collections.
However, this is not the worst rate in the world. The old cars in Cuba – where the average age of the transport is 40 years old. The fleet of Cuba is considered a symbol of the state and its heritage.
