ESA launched a competition for the best design for a rocket that will orbit the telescope “Cheops”.
The European space Agency (ESA) will give designers and artists the opportunity to put your image on the Soyuz rocket that will orbit the telescope “Cheops”. The launch of the missile will take place in late 2018.
The space telescope “Cheops” is intended for the search and study of exoplanets. This probe will weigh 58 kilos and the diameter of the mirror is 32 cm. The main task of the spacecraft is to study the radius of exoplanets to determine their mass. Quite possibly, some of the planets in the future may become our second home.
A comparison of these statistics to determine the approximate composition of the planets – for example, whether they are gas giants or rocky bodies, like Earth. In addition, the “Cheops” will help astronomers to study how changing the orbits of exoplanets.
To participate in the tender for the painting of the rocket can all attend – for it is only necessary to upload your work on the Agency’s website. Drawing of the winner will be placed on the outer surface of the head fairing of the rocket “Soyuz”, which will be the entire payload.
Image size 1×1 meter will be visible during preparation for launch and launch, as well as the photographs and videos taken at the launch site in Kourou, French Guiana. In addition, the winner will be invited to watch to send “Cheops” in the space.
