Famous Brazilian soccer player Alex announced his retirement from professional football.
Since summer Alex was in the status of a free agent – and not finding a new option to continue a career, the 34-year-old has decided that his time in football as a player has been completed. An important role in the decision, Alex was played and a severe knee injury.
“I made the decision to retire after talked to the family. Lately I could not play because of a knee injury. I need a surgery after which recovery will take up to nine months”, – quotes the defender of the Brazilian press.
Alex began his career in “Santos”, in 2004-m to year has passed in “Chelsea”, but before the opportunity to gain a foothold in the London club spent three seasons in the “PSV”, becoming a three-time champion of the Netherlands. The club from Eindhoven Alex in the season 2004-2005 was a step away from getting into the Champions League final.
At Chelsea, the Brazilian has spent the last five years, and then played in Paris and Milan. Alex ends his career in the status of champion Brazil, England, France and the Netherlands, as well as the winner of the Copa America-2007.
In addition to its defensive functions Alex left a mark in football as a great performer of free kicks. In his career, the Brazilian at the club level have scored 53 goals.
