Eight contenders for victory in the Europa League have been rivals in the 1/4 finals.
In the quarter-finals of the Europa League made by the representatives of seven national Championships. Only Belgium was delegated to the 1/4 finals of the greater of one club (Genk and Anderlecht).
Of the eight participants in 1/4 finals of the Europa League, only three clubs have previously won the Europa League/UEFA Cup – Schalke (1997), AFC Ajax (1992) and Anderlecht (1983).
For the first time since 2013, the Europa League will be a new winner – the last three tournaments of the European Cup won the Spanish “Seville”.
The draw for the quarter-final stage of the competition was “blind” – without seeding and separation teams on a national basis.
Ambassador of the Europa League final in Stockholm Patrick Anderson in conjunction with the Director of competitions of UEFA, Giorgio Marchetti in the 1/4 finals formed the following pairs:
Anderlecht (Belgium) – “Manchester United” (England)
Celta (Spain) – “Genk” (Belgium)
“Ajax” (Netherlands) – Schalke (Germany)
Lyon (France) – “Beshiktash” (Turkey)
Quarterfinal matches will take place on 13 and 20 April.
