EU will not Fund Moldova from-for failure of reforms

While the Moldovan government will undertake reforms, neither of which tranches may not be considered.
The European Union has announced that it will provide Moldova with the last tranche of the planned loan for the amount of 28000000 euros, designed to support the reform of the judicial system, since the government has not fulfilled the conditions for receiving these funds.

“The EU has closely followed the reform process and notes that the Moldovan authorities showed a lack of dedication to reform of the justice sector”, – said the EU delegation in Moldova.

Also, due to the lack of reforms, the EU postponed the provision of funds and other aid package, microfinance for a total amount of 100 000 000 euros. As stated in the EU, Moldova needs to witness the observance of human rights and the rule of law, to receive the first tranche of this assistance now in December.

This package consists of loans in the amount of 60000000 euros and bezvestnogo grant 40000000, aims to help Moldova with short-term financing. The provision of funds from this package has already been postponed in may after several political groups in the European Parliament expressed concern about the situation in Moldova with the media, the rule of law and the already mentioned changes in the electoral system.

Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Philip last week admitted that his country will not receive funds from the EU this year. He, however, expressed confidence that Moldova will fulfill all the necessary conditions to receive these funds next year.

From 2015, Moldova has seen three governments after the scandal with the disappearance of the sum of 1,000,000,000 dollars from the banking system, pushed the country into political and economic crisis.
