S-400, the purchase of which is agreed earlier, is not compatible with NATO systems.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he discussed with Moscow the purchase of the latest anti-aircraft missile systems s-500.
“We with Vladimir Putin discussed the s-500” – said Erdogan in the course of communication with journalists after returning from an overseas tour.
At the same time, Erdogan expressed hope that Moscow and Ankara can agree on joint production of s-400. At the current stage of the contract for s-400 it is only about buying, but Ankara expects to agree on the joint production at the next stage, said the Turkish President.
S-500 is the newest anti-aircraft missile system, which has not yet entered service with the Russian army. Its technical features are still classified.
The agreement on purchase Turkish Russian s-400 was signed after months of negotiations. According to the newspaper RBC for each division, Ankara agreed to pay $500 million.
On the eve of the U.S. permanent representative to NATO Kay Bailey stated that the s-400 is not compatible with systems which uses the Alliance. The deal between Russia and Turkey, she called an attempt to “build a wall” between NATO members.
