Erdogan called the Court’s decision of the EU about the hijab “crusade against Islam”.
The Turkish President has accused the Court of the European Union that he began a “crusade” against Islam, having made the decision to deny permission to wear the clothing with clear religious signs, including the Muslim hijab.
“The court of the European Union, the European Court of justice, my dear brothers, launched a crusade against the (Muslim) Crescent,” said Erdogan, adding a rhetorical question: “where is religious freedom?”.
The Turkish press also reported that the government will provide legal support to the Turkish citizens living in France and Belgium, after the decision of the European court.
Justice Minister Bekir bozdag called the ruling “a disgrace.”
“The European court decided that ignores and violates all agreements on human rights, EU values and General rules of the law. You should know that the ban on the wearing of hijab is a clear violation of human rights, freedom of religion and conscience, right to work,” said Bozdag.
