The water in the river turned green and turned into slush. Experts advise to refrain from swimming because you can pick up a fungus and E. coli. And the water from the tap took under the strengthened control.
According to environmentalists, the pollution has arisen due to the daily discharge of water in the morning from the Kiev reservoir of the Dnieper.
“The Kiev sea occupies a large area and has little depth, which contributes to the rapid warming. And there is no current. In such conditions, algae grow very much. In addition, water is heavily polluted by nitrogen and phosphate that contribute to the growth and reproduction of algae”, explains ecologist the National ecological centre of Ukraine Oleksandr Sokolenko.
On all the beaches of the capital put the sign “Swimming is not recommended”.
“Now one of the peak periods of algal blooms, which can last 10-15 days. Blooms water over the dam of the Kiev sea and start the water, all the green mass is thrown on the beaches of the Dnieper. During the day, after dilution with water Gums some of the beaches are again clean. But there are a few locations, in particular on the Trukhaniv island and the beach Chertoriy, where the situation during the day is not improving. Water analyses taken every week, and now indicators are normal, but when the water is green, swimming is not recommended”, — explained to us Pikalov Denis, the General Director KP “Pleso”.
In the Metropolitan Hospitible say that because flowering when bathing in the river, you can catch the bacteria coliform. In addition, the water can contain microorganisms that cause different diseases ranging from fungal and ending infectious.
Citizens worried about whether you can drink water from the tap. The state foods and consumer service people are not panic — hourly check of water at the fence and out of the system “Kyivvodocanal” to consumers.
