Elections called for 80% of the population.
After counting nearly 100% of bulletins on elections in Catalonia a majority in the regional Parliament get three of the party campaigning for the secession of the region from Spain. In General, they received 70 out of 135 seats in the new Parliament.
The results of calculations, 99.9% of ballots most votes received the liberal party “Citizens”. It stands for European integration and unity with Spain. Its representatives will get 37 seats in Parliament.
However, the second and the third place was taken by the party advocating the independence of the region: the party of ex-Prime Minister of Catalonia Carles Pokdemon “Together for Catalonia” (34 seats) and the Left Republican party of Catalonia (ERC) (32 seats).
Four of the mandate will be given to the party “Candidacy of national unity”, which also stands for the independence of the region.
The turnout was record high: 80% of the citizens having the right to vote came to the polls.
Recall that the regional Parliament was dissolved Madrid on October 27. Then the Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy has suspended from duty the head of the Catalan government, Carles Pokdemon. Before that on the same day, the Catalan Parliament proclaimed the region’s independence.
