The project will be the second investment in the framework of the Program of financing of alternative energy.
According to the Bank, the loan is designed to Finance the construction in Cherkasy region solar power plant of 30 MW, which will begin to generate electricity at the end of 2019.
The syndicated loan consists of loan a in the amount of up to 12.25 million euros, will be provided directly by EBRD, and a loan of the same amount, which will be provided by the development Bank of the Netherlands.
The project will be implemented by the Ukrainian special purpose machinery, which is fully owned by the Norwegian developer of solar power plants Scatec Solar ASA (SSO NO).
The project will be the second investment of the EBRD in the framework of the Program of financing of alternative energy in Ukraine III (USELF III), a mechanism which was approved by the Bank in July 2018. USELF III based on the previous two programmes, co-financed by EBRD and the clean technology Fund, which in Ukraine was implemented 14 projects for renewable energy total installed capacity of 158 MW.
Recall that in late October, 2018 the Board of Directors of the European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) has approved a new strategy for Ukraine, which specified the priorities of the Bank’s activities in the country for the next five years.
Note, the European Bank for reconstruction and development intends to 2018 to implement in Ukraine 25-30 new investment projects.
