There is the threat of a breakthrough the largest dam of the United States.
California authorities have announced a mass evacuation because of the threat of a dam break of Oroville. Around 3:00 a.m. Monday, Moscow time, the engineers decided that the spillway of the highest in the country dams can not cope with the load.
In the area of evacuation live at least 130 thousand people. Assessment of the authorities, the spillway could collapse within a few hours, but as of Monday morning, this did not happen.
The water began to flow over the spillway due to heavy rains that fell in the region yesterday. Engineers emphasize that partial destruction is fixed only at the spillway, and not on the main dam, which is not in danger.
To prevent the destruction, the authorities planned to fill the gap formed at the top of the spillway. To do this, helicopters will dump the rock.
