1 died on December Ulli Lommel, actor and producer who left an ambiguous trail in the “new German cinema” and Hollywood. He was 72.
Lommel started with acting, and quickly fell in love with the European public. The first movie with him came out in 1962, and by the end of the decade he was already a star. Followed by familiarity with the unknown Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Lommel has agreed to star in his debut picture, and in consequence they often worked together. Fassbinder has become an icon of the “new wave” in Germany and Lommel was his Muse. According to the latter, the Director was often drunk on the set and in General was “a real genius, a madman, at the same time the good, the bad and the ugly.” However, since childhood Ulli wanted to make a movie. In the end, Warhol invited Lommel in his “Factory”, the famous Studio where the creation of works of art was put on stream. The Warhol produces the following work of Lommel and starring in them as an actor. Critics begin to hate German Director, but his film is popular and pay for itself. The biggest success for the Director was the horror “the Boogeyman” in 1980.
However, the Lommel believed that doing horror movies. According to him, he was engaged in experimental film, and from what companies such as Lionsgate promotes his work as horror, in the end only lost, because the viewer gets is not what he promised.
Ulli Lommel’s career was long and fruitful, bright (or should I say motley) and very uneven. It was called incompetent and an unrecognized genius. “Zombie” was regularly included in the tops of netscoring trash, “the Wizard Daniel” was named the worst German movie of all time.
