They were inspired by Thom Yorke and David Bowie.
British-American singer Scott Walker has died at the age of 76 years. This was reported by representatives of the music label 4AD. Causes of death were not reported.
“Walker was unique and defiant Titan in the musical avant-garde. The bold and the doubters, he created works that dare to explore human vulnerability and godless darkness surrounding it”, – said in a statement 4AD.
Scott Walker (real name Noel Scott Engel) began his career as part of trio The Walker Brothers. In 1967 he started to record solo. His early albums originally had big commercial success, but later had a strong influence on many musicians. Walker had called his source of inspiration Thom Yorke, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Turner and more.
The later albums of Scott Walker – “Tilt” (1995), “The Drift” (2006) and “Bish Bosch” (2012) – differ in experimental sound and was praised by music critics.
