Determined Russian regions with the strongest decline of wages

The experts of the Institute of regional problems fixed almost universal decline in nominal wages in Russia — they fell in 69 of the 85 regions of the country.

In this case, more just wages fell in the Murmansk region by 12.2%, followed by Karachay-Cherkess Republic (9.5%), and the three “leaders” closed the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (9.2%), according to Lenta.ru citing a study which analyzed statistical data for August 2019.

Last week the Chairman of the government Dmitry Medvedev said about the need to discuss the issue of reducing the difference in salaries of management and ordinary employees of budgetary institutions, but “egalitarianism” should not be.

Medvedev believes that “there is no” pre-existent “simply outrageous” for the difference in salaries of management and ordinary public employees, because “we (the government — ed.) is “hlopnul””.

“We did it, the criteria we align, but if colleagues believe that, after all not still true, this can still work out,” said the Prime Minister, giving, however, to understand that he did not want to “fall into leveling tendencies”.

Recall that, according to Rosstat estimates, the average monthly salaries of employees of organizations in Russia in September 2019 rose by 7.2% yoy and reached 45,541 thousand rubles. In the 9 months since the beginning of this year the growth rate of nominal wages was similar, 7.2 per cent. While real wages (adjusted for inflation) increased in September by 3.1% yoy, 1.3% in August and 2.3% in the first 9 months of the year.

Real disposable income (less mandatory payments, adjusted for inflation) of the population of Russia in the III quarter of 2019 has increased by 3% yoy after a decline by 0.1% in April—June (revised from minus 0.2 percent evaluation). In the first 9 months of this year, the index rose by 0.2% in annual terms.

Previously, the employment portal “Work.ru” has published the results of a study which suggests that nearly one in five workers in Russia in the current year, have noticed a reduction in the level of their salaries. 57% of respondents said that “their salary this year has not changed”, and 18% of employees of Russian companies complained about “the decline in private earnings”.

In October, Rosstat reported that the share of Russian families whose financial resources are only enough to buy food and clothing, and durable goods (computer, refrigerator, washing machine, furniture and so on) of the funds are already there in the current year has increased. So, if in the first quarter of 2019 money for food and clothing enough to 49.2% of Russian families, which was 0.2 percentage points more than the corresponding figure of the previous year. In April—June, their share continued to grow and has already reached 49.4 per cent, which is 0.6 percentage points higher than a year earlier.

A November 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the government to reverse the situation with the dynamics of real incomes of the country. This is critical work, he said at the forum “Russia calling!” while recognizing that the results of this work “still quite modest”. According to Putin, it is known that wages in Russia are growing in nominal and real terms, but the disposable income of citizens, “almost stand still”. This situation must change said the head of state.
