Detained ex-the Berkut officer, who is suspected of beating “automaidan protesters”

Задержан экс-беркутовец, который подозревается в избиении «автомайдановцев»Strongman is suspected of illegal detention of 18 activists of automaidan in the night from 22 to 23 January 2014 on the streets Schorsa and Grushevskogo.

Militiamen detained the suspect of beating of participants of Automaidan movement in 2014, a former employee of a special company of the special unit Berkut. This is stated in the press service of the Prosecutor General.

“During the preliminary investigation on 24 January arrested a former employee of the Metropolitan special police Berkut, which long time was wanted on suspicion of abuse of power and illegal detention by prior conspiracy with other employees units of special police Berkut 18 social movement activists Automaidan in the night from 22 to 23 January 2014 on the streets Schorsa and the Grushevsky street in Kiev, accompanied by the application to them of violence and damage to their cars”, – noted in GPU.

The detainee also is charged with forgery report and providing false testimony and the prosecution of activists in serious crimes on the basis of which were detained, brought to criminal responsibility for alleged acts of hooliganism, and applied measures of restraint in form of detention.

The detainee was served notice of suspicion under part 3 of article 365 of the Criminal code – abuse of power and official authority, part 1 of article 366 – forgery, part 2, article 384 – knowingly false testimony.

The court made application for the application to the suspect the measure of restraint in form of detention.
