Anniversary to battle in the Pro ring, the promoters have prepared for Derevyanchenko serious test – the first time a Ukrainian fought a boxer that has not had a single defeat. Rival Sergey was Jamaican Kemal Russell, on account of which before the battle had nine wins, including eight early.
In the opening rounds Derevyanchenko scouted, and the first serious attack made in the third round, checking the strength of the case Russell. Due to advantages in power Ukrainian firmly seized the initiative and began to hint to the opponent on the early completion of fight.
Upshot of the match occurred in the fifth round – Derevyanchenko several times shook Russell. The Jamaican stood firm on his feet, but the total lack of resistance forced the referee in the ring to stop the one-sided beating.
“I was very happy to return to the ring. And I felt fine during the fight. As it gained momentum, opponents have not had time for me. Now I’m ready to meet anyone,” said Derevyanchenko after the fight.
Sergey Derevyanchenko takes the second place in the IBF ranking and may soon become mandatory Challenger for the title by the International Boxing Federation, which is owned by Kazakh star Gennady Golovkin.
