Denmark can’t increase military spending to two percent of GDP.
Denmark will increase defense spending because of the placement of Russian missile systems in the Kaliningrad region.
This was stated by the Minister of defence of the Kingdom Claus Hjort Frederiksen.
“We can observe how the Russian place new missiles in Kaliningrad, which can reach Copenhagen. Of course, this is a serious risk,” the Minister said in an interview with the newspaper Berlingske.
At the same time, the Minister noted that despite calls from NATO partners, Denmark can’t increase military spending to two percent of GDP.
“We are experiencing enormous pressure from the Obama administration, and, as we understand it, from the future President trump (with demand) to increase spending to 2 percent,” he said.
