The double Olympic champion on swimming Denis Pankratov, now sports journalist, TV commentator and presenter, shared a special opinion on the introduction of the world community against Russia global sporting sanctions.
In a rather provocative interview with “Soviet sport”, he put forward the thesis that the current problems of national sports are deep and historic.
“We are guilty of very many things. Almost all accusations in the direction of Russia – are not unfounded. Need to dance at all since 1950-ies, when the country took to the Olympic family. What is written in the Olympic Charter? “The state has no right to participate in the sport of life.” All of our Federation was to sit, sit and sit in a conditional state Committee. All heads of federations, it turns out, officials said. That is, we have entered the world of Competitions, all the cheating and everything breaking,” said the Olympic champion.
Pankratov recalled that, at competition of representatives of Amateur sports of the USSR and Russia were constantly put up against students “red car”.
“Our entire sport has always been dishonest. We are putting special forces against children. We’re not the most athletic nation. We know that much. And we are not the strongest athletes. But we are not competing with those not his equal. With 50 years we constantly cheat, lie and behave correctly in relation to the rest of the world. Well, when we had to say “Stop”? Now we say,” says the former swimmer.

General principle: lie, lie, lie. But the international community still thinks: give us the ban or not to give? Now there is some kind of hellish ball of Satan. The Olympic champion acknowledges that doping is everywhere. But the world demands from Russia not only cleanliness – it requires that the state got out of the sport.
“Worldwide, a child is involved in sports, because paying parents – he recalled. – And we have from childhood – special forces cook. We are destroying everything around. Their children go to school and become people. In my free time I do sports. And we have six sessions a day. No one learns, all the (pounding his fist on the table), but we win. Get the government out of sports. Claim individually to athletes. Claims to Russia, which puts the athletes on doping”.
“Now we will have a 4-year ban and the officials will have plenty of time to think about how we live. We were given this amount of advances! And we continue to play their games. There is no conspiracy – we have created this situation, because he considered himself the most intelligent and cunning” – summed up Pankratov.
