Ford showed extreme rally model 2017 Fiesta WRC.
For the first time rally team Ford M-Sport (formerly Malcolm Wilson Motorsport) successfully took part in the race WRC 1997, finishing second among automakers.
Now, twenty years later, the automaker decided to climb on the podium of the season of 2017 with a brand new sports car based on the new Fiesta.
Established in accordance with the technical regulations next season, the 2017 Ford Fiesta WRC was developed from scratch. Computer modeling of aerodynamics (CFD) has demanded an impressive rear wing and wide stance made the new car is spectacular.
“Drive the car myself, I can honestly say that this is the most impressive car ever built, said Malcolm Wilson, former rider and now team Manager M-Sport. To ride it I wonder, it sounds fantastic and looks absolutely sensational”.
According to the statement of M-Sport, roughly 95 percent of the car is designed from scratch. Under the hood of a sports car with extravagant style is located 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, developing 380 HP of power and 450 Nm of torque sent to all four wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox with hydraulic multi-plate clutch and an active center differential that allows the driver to adjust the torque distribution between the axles during movement.
Front suspension is equipped with MacPherson struts with Reiger shock absorbers with external reservoir, works effectively on dirt roads. Ventilated discs with four-piston monobloc calipers are designed to keep the speed, when the road gets twisty too. And security is enhanced with steel tubular frame corresponding to the specifications of the FIA, with the structural strengthening of the rapids.
At this point the car was almost 7 000 km of testing on the basis of which the manufacturer promises to return Fiesta WRC on the top step of the podium. This is the second officially confirmed the WRC car of the season 2017, starting in the last week of January in Monte Carlo.
