Jon von techner that developed the Opera browser Vivaldi, made accusations to the address of the Google search engine.
It happened after Vivaldi advertising campaign on Google AdWords was blocked without warning.
“What is happening now is the low point. Recently, our advertising campaign in Google AdWords was suspended without warning. With this situation I have encountered before, but this time the timing spoke for itself. This happened after several media outlets published an interview with me where I spoke about the practice of collecting user data and targeted advertising, particularly from Google and Facebook,” said Jon von techner.
According to Techner, such decision can be connected with the methods of personal data collection by Google, as well as the fact that the browser Vivaldi designed in 2016 on the Chromium core, are also forced to hide data to access Google services.
“Turning to Google with the aim to solve this problem, we have clarified, disguised in vague terms, and some of them, as admitted by the representatives of the company were not strict requirements,” adds von techner.
Also Jon von techner noted that the monopoly position in the markets of search and advertising, “spoiled” by Google. “Google, sorry, could not resist the temptation of undue influence. I’m sorry to see that as a positive that the company that I once knew, turned into a bully,” – said Jon.
Additionally, the co-founder of Opera, Jon von techner left Opera Software in 2011, and the year before he left the post of General Director of the company. In April 2016 he presented the Vivaldi browser created by the same company on the basis of an open system Chromium.
