Created 3D printer to print unusual buildings

This method will enable architects to design more unusual buildings, and construction companies — to reduce costs

Austrian startup Overtec learned to print the concrete parts of any shape on a 3D printer, even the most complex curves and spirals.

Print production elements for modern buildings, facades and finished parts used heavy duty printer weighing 1.8 tonnes of size 4 sq m, says 3ders.

The method of 3D printing concrete components allow architects to create more unusual building, and construction companies to reduce costs. Overtec believes, 3D printing of convex, concave and conical parts of concrete is a serious challenge current production methods. Their production using existing technology is very time-consuming, complex and expensive. And for 3D printing technology Overtec doesn’t matter whether the details straight or curved.

Different types of concrete coatings from the company Overtec, as well as the railing and flexibly designed interior, which will allow designers to maximise the space, will be on the market in a few months. Mass production Overtec plans to begin in the spring of 2018.
