The Supreme court of Belarus has sentenced Ukrainian journalist Paul Sharoika. He was sentenced to “more than eight years of imprisonment”.
This was stated by Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim.
The trial of Sharoika began in February. In this case in the Supreme court of Belarus has not yet commented on the verdict to the Ukrainian.
Sharoika recently visited the Ukrainian Consul also met with him a wife. According to the Ambassador, Sharoika did not complain about conditions of detention.
Recall, 17 November last year it became known that in Minsk have detained a Ukrainian journalist Paul Sharoika. He was accused of spying and said that he is a career intelligence officer of Ukraine. In the KGB Sharoika accused of “the establishment of the Republic intelligence network”.
The main intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian defense Ministry confirmed that Sharoika worked in the Department as head of the press service and in 2009, resigned for health reasons.
Later, the Minister of foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin stated that the detention of Ukrainians in Belarus and charged with espionage is total stupidity.
