Hero of the Russian Federation cosmonaut Gennady Padalka transferred the causes of stagnation in the Russian space industry, writes RIA “Novosti”.
From the point of view Padalka, who in total spent in space record in the world 878 days for five flights, the industry has passed during the last twenty years. He said that the first reason for this process is the technological gap, since the Russian segment of the International space station (ISS) is built on the technology of the 1980-ies. In addition, the astronaut declared that the reliable Soyuz spacecraft, though well-made but long outdated and is constantly undergoing upgrades.
The second factor cosmonaut called ineffective use of allocated budget and commercial funds in the industry. Padalka also said that Russia is experiencing a shortage of qualified personnel due to serious bias in favor of managers, lawyers and financiers. “We are still flying on what was inherited from the Soviet Union”, – concluded the astronaut, adding that of manned space flight, in his opinion, the Russian Federation has not created anything new.
Earlier in December, the head of “Roskosmos” Dmitry Rogozin announced plans to create a lift that will deliver to the moon cargo. According to him, to recoup the project will be the implementation of private foreign orders, as many States “exploding into space”.
