Commissioning of housing in Ukraine fell sharply

Commissioning housing in Ukraine in January-June 2018 decreased by 27.8% compared to the same period of 2017 – to 3.5 million sq. m.

This was reported by the State statistics service (gosstat).

According to the report, cities for two quarters in operation for more than 2 million square meters of housing (63,5% of the total), in rural areas – 1.2 million sqm of 51.7% of the total volume of housing commissioned in single-family homes, 48,2% – in homes with two or more apartments, 0,1% – in hostels.

In General, during the reporting period, the group commissioned 37.3 thousand apartments, in the cities and 27.1 thousand apartments, villages and 10.2 thousand of apartments.

The average area of apartments amounted to 87.5 square meters, the average area of flats in urban areas – 76,3 sq. m, in rural areas – 117,3 sq. m.

In Kyiv region and Lviv region at the end of the first half of 2018 commissioned 41.5% of the total housing stock, in particular, in Kiev – 334 thousand square meters (10.2 percent).

The increase in the volume of commissioned housing observed only in five regions of Ukraine. The biggest decrease occurred in Kyiv – at 64.3.

The highest rates of growth of housing construction in January-June 2018 to the same period of the previous year were recorded in Kherson (2.4 times, up to 36,7 thousand sq. m.) and Kharkiv regions (in 1,6 times, to 202 thousand sq m).

Recall that in 2017, according Gosstata the rate of commissioning of housing in Ukraine without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol increased by 9% in 2016 compared year – on-year to 10.2 million sq. m.
