The Chinese army held maneuvers near North Korea.
After nuclear test in North Korea, the Chinese army conducted near North Korean territorial waters exercises in case of a sudden attack. The Ministry of defence in Beijing on Thursday, 7 September, confirmed the fact of carrying out of maneuvers, but emphasized their routine.
“The exercise was conducted as part of a yearlong plan to improve the combat effectiveness of troops, and was not directed against any particular state or goal,” the report says, the Chinese defense Ministry.
The defense Ministry also said that the maneuvers, held on 5 September in the Bohai Strait, China air force practiced actions in response to the “unexpected, low-altitude targets over the sea”.
The Bohai Strait is bordered by West Korea Bay off the coast of North Korea and the Yellow sea. Not yet clear whether the associated PRC conducted military exercises with the recent test of a hydrogen bomb in North Korea. However, to the maneuvers in China has focused attention on the rising tension on the Korean Peninsula.
