Zakharchenko confirmed the agreement on the exchange of prisoners
The self-proclaimed head of the DND Alexander Zakharchenko said that he agreed with the position of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the issue of exchange of prisoners with Ukraine, because it is not contrary to the principles of the DNI.
“Today had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, the exchange of prisoners and other issues. In the matter of exchange of prisoners, I agree with the position of the President of Russia − we must be guided here by the principles of humanity. The exchange of prisoners should not be a matter of war and trade,” − said Zakharchenko.
He stressed that he supported Putin’s initiative, because it contradicts the principles of the DNI.
“So Yes, I supported the initiative of the President of Russia. For the simple reason that it does not contradict our principles and how the Republic was acting in the matter of the prisoners before,” − said Zakharchenko.
He also argues that DNR always humanely treated prisoners the security forces and their content comply with all international standards.
We will remind, on November 15, Viktor Medvedchuk at the meeting with Putin said that Ukraine is ready to release the 306 people in exchange for 74 hostages LDNR and asked the Russian leader to assist this process.
