This model has twice been the subject of a revocable campaign
Volvo has made a name for itself as a company that produces the safest cars on the road. And with five-star rating from the NHTSA, and an award for leadership IIHS Top Safety, the new XC90 is one of the safest cars it has ever done.
But the model is still the object of a revocable campaign.
At the end of last year the XC90 was included (along with the S60, V60, XC90 and S90) in the list of models, designed for review due to issues with the seat belts. Then again, he was withdrawn at the beginning of this year (along with the S90 and V90) because of the side airbags. Now he again withdrew due to another component of the seat belt.
A recall notice from the National authority of road safety indicates that this small component can be lost and become a projectile in the cabin in case of an accident. Subcomponent called Micro Gas Generator, and is part of the retractor of the seat belt in the right seat of the third row.
Fortunately, the problem (at least in the United States of America) is limited to about 1305 cars that will have to be delivered to their local dealerships for replacement of retractors. This process is scheduled for August 7.
