Alcohol causes the blood vessels to age faster than normal
Alcohol consumed with regularity and in large quantities, provokes the rapid aging of the arteries. This applies particularly to men, warn experts from the American heart Association.
For many years cardiologists were watching 3869 people (70% men). Experts have painstakingly researched the status of volunteers, whose experience of alcohol was in excess of 25 years. All participants of the experiment monitored the condition of the arteries with a frequency of every four to five years.
It turned out, the people who over many years, more than 112 grams of ethanol per week (one liter of beer contains about 40 grams of ethanol), was reduced elasticity of the arteries. This disrupts the normal blood flow and potentially increased the risk of cardiovascular disease as well as heart attack and stroke.
