Canada imposed sanctions against 15 people, including six state Duma deputies from the Crimea.
The government of Canada expanded the list of individuals and legal entities of Russia, subject to personal sanctions.
“These sanctions were a response to the election to the state Duma of 18 September, of deputies living in the Crimea. Canada does not support the legitimacy and results of the elections held in the occupied Crimean Peninsula, as will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol”, – stated in the message.
As noted, the sanctions list was replenished to maintain the required pressure on Russia until it complied with its international commitments towards Ukraine.
It is reported that personal sanctions Canada mean freezing the country’s assets, if any, and a ban on transactions with the defendants in the list.
