At the end of the African Cup of Nations has determined that all members of the eighth confederations Cup.
On the eve of Cameroon in the final of the African Cup with the score 2:1 defeated the national team of Egypt and became the fivefold champion of the continent. This victory guaranteed the “Indomitable lions” a trip to Russia, where from 17 June to 2 July will be the eighth confederations Cup.
Thus, the tournament table of the Cup of the Confederation fully formed:
Group a: Russia (host of the world Cup), New Zealand (winner of the Nations Cup OFC), Portugal (champion Euro 2016) and Mexico (winner play-off match between the winners of the Gold Cup).
Group B: Cameroon (winner of the African Cup of Nations), Chile (winner of the America’s Cup), Australia (winner of the Asian Cup) and Germany (reigning world champion).
The group stage of the confederations Cup kicks off on the 17th and will end on the 25th of June. Semi-final matches on 28 and 29 June was hosted by Kazan and Sochi. The final second of June will be held in St. Petersburg, and the match for third place on the same day will be held in Moscow.
For the first time since 1997, the current winner of the Cup of the Confederation will not be able to defend the title. Brazil’s national team failed to qualify for the tournament via a world Cup or Copa America.
