Data provided by British scientists.
Sociological studies have shown that drowsiness was the cause of 53 fatal accidents 351 of which happened in England in 2017 because of driver fatigue. Researchers believe fatigue cause one quarter of all accidents.
Such data are provided by British scientists analyzing more than 20 thousand drivers. They determined that the probability of accidents in the studied groups is 37%. Drivers say that sometimes so tired that fear of falling asleep behind the wheel. Estimates are that more likely to suffer from sleepiness motorists are male. From the mass – 17% of men tend to lose alertness while driving and only 5% of women can fall asleep while riding. Moreover, only 57% of drivers of all respondents are inclined to stay for the break, knowing that to fall asleep.
The main causes that provoke fatigue and sleepiness, the researchers think long and hard working day (39%), monotonous landscape while traveling (33%), driving at night (27%), attempt to reach a greater distance in one day (27%) and lack of sleep before the trip (26%).
It is worth noting that a driver who is “disabled” for three or four seconds while driving on the highway, during this short period of time overcomes a distance the size of a football field. The 30-second “blackout” at the speed of 90-100 km/h the car is not controlled, drive 0.8 kilometers.
