American scientists have named, in their opinion, the main advantage of Jogging before sedentary lifestyle. Devoted to a study published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, and briefly about it, reports the University of Arizona (USA).
Jogging, as shown by the experts, improve functional connections between various brain areas. In particular, this means that cognitive abilities (planning, decision-making and the ability to switch attention between tasks) in runners are better developed in comparison with people, leading a sedentary lifestyle.
To such conclusions scientists came after magnetic resonance imaging of the brain in two groups of young people (18-25 years old) with comparable indices of body weight, — runners and those who lead a sedentary lifestyle.
Experts note that their study is devoted to the young, not elderly, as in most similar works. In addition, the researchers did not name the specific reasons that enhance the cognitive abilities of runners. On the one hand, this may contribute to the overall beneficial effect of physical culture provided to all systems of the body, on the other — the intensification of the brain necessary for coordination of movements of different body parts while running.
