Volunteers who took daily supplements with pomegranate extract for three weeks, said that they experienced significantly less intense feelings of hunger throughout the day than those who took a placebo.
And when it came time for lunch, taking pomegranate ate on average 22 per cent less than people from the control group, but reported greater pleasure from food.
In a study conducted by the University of Queen Margaret, in Edinburgh, took part in a total of 29 volunteers.
Half of them took a pomegranate extract, containing the skin, pith and seeds of the fruit every day for three weeks, the other took a placebo.
After three weeks, each volunteer drank a glass of pomegranate juice before you eat for lunch pasta with tomato sauce.
Before meals and every 15 minutes for two hours after that, the participants wrote in the questionnaire their feelings: appreciated the feeling of hunger, desire to eat, fullness and satisfaction from food.
Taking pomegranate extract felt less hungry (by an average of 12 percent), they had less desire to eat (21 percent), they are more likely to feel well-fed (16 percent) and were more satisfied with the food (15 percent).
In addition, they ate an average of 447 paste compared to 574г in the control group, i.e. 22 percent less!
