Scientists note that prunes contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress
In experiments with mice, conducted by researchers from the US, prunes have shown themselves as a means of preventing the development of colon cancer.
Recall that this disease ranks second in mortality from cancer.
The study was carried out by the staff of the University of Texas and the University of North Carolina. During the experiments, the mice were divided into two groups: one in the feed of animals were present prunes, but not in another. The results of the experiment showed that although in both groups the diet of mice contributed to the increase in the risk of colon cancer, who prunes the group of markers of disease in animals was smaller.
Scientists note that prunes contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress, and with it, respectively, and the likelihood of developing cancer. According to them, the phenolic substance in the composition of prunes activate the growth of healthy and beneficial bacterial flora of the intestine.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer: by age 50, approximately 40% of people have intestinal polyps, which if adverse conditions develop tumors. Such circumstances are excess weight (especially dangerous obesity in the abdomen), unhealthy diet, in which too little fiber and plant fibers.
In 2015 a study conducted by the staff of Loma Linda University in California showed that eating close to vegetarianism (many plant-based foods plus fish), efficiently prevents the occurrence probability of colon cancer by as much as 43%.
