Netflix is hot, do not say anything. The world of cinema is changing rapidly. Some five years ago, this company was the usual online theater, and is now one of the largest producers of original content and rolling to the amounts which would have envied and some Hollywood studios. While Netflix spared from the hassle with convulsive calculation of fees for the start-up weekend and other delights films. A huge database of subscribers allows streaming giant feel quite calm.
This Friday, December 22, Netflix released its most ambitious project: 90 million fantasy Thriller “Brightness” (Bright). This is the first attempt to play on the field of large-scale Hollywood production, a vigorous blend of genres (in addition to those already named here and Thriller and police drama with social programs, etc) with will Smith in the title role. It would seem that that’s done, the serious business was done, now need to relax and to see the reaction of the audience. But no, Netflix has already ordered a sequel! This can be perceived as a good “Hello” to studios and cinemas, like, guys, we can afford it and are now going to bite off a piece from your cake, luring the audience. Not for nothing that some Directors have openly expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the streaming service.
In the sequel to “Brightness” will be back and will Smith, no other details yet. Recall the synopsis of the original painting:
The story takes place in an alternate reality where orcs, elves and fairies coexist with humans since the beginning of time. Two cops, a man and an Orc, during a routine night patrol find themselves embroiled in a battle for the future of the entire known world. Battling hordes of enemies, partners need to find common ground and work together to protect the girl-elf and a forgotten relic that, in the wrong hands, can destroy everything.
Joel Edgerton (“the Gift”, “Something”, 2011), Lucy fry (TV’s “the Wolf pit”), noomi Rapace (“Prometheus”) and Jay Hernandez (“Quarantine”) is also in the cast.
