Producer Jason Blum’s (actually his name is correctly pronounced as “blam”, but we have all been accustomed to call it “bloom” and nothing else, right?) happened in career and failures, however, the chosen commercial strategy is such that allows to minimize production costs – therefore almost every other film company Blumhouse is becoming successful. Occur, and big hits like “split” or “Off”. And at the end of last weekend it became clear that in a number of successful movies from Blum and the team’s new addition!
Youth horror movie “Happy death day”, which is described as “Groundhog Day in the genre of slasher”, was launched in the US box office with the first line, having collected all 26 and a half million dollars with a budget of less than $ 5 million.
We had doubts about this project, associated primarily with “family” rated PG-13. And these fears seem to be groundless – on the same Rotten Tomatoes the film has not so many positive reviews (64% from critics and 74% among viewers). At the same time, the obvious failure is not observed, evidenced and decent numbers at the box office. In the Russian hire the picture of Christopher Landon should be out in December.
“Happy day of the death” moved to second place fiction, “blade Runner 2049” – sad, but it seems that in USA it is a very beautiful movie will collect 100 “millions”, with a budget of 150 million.e. makes the chances of return slim.
Closes the three leaders of another new hire, action-Thriller “Alien” with Jackie Chan.
Note also that this week in limited release, the U.S. released a music black Comedy “American Satan”, about which we wrote many times. With 55 screens the film was able to collect over 130 thousand dollars that, perhaps, can be considered a good result.
