BMW 5-series received a hybrid version.
Car collection of the fifth series BMW added a new option: hybrid sedan 530e with the possibility of charging the battery.
Sedan became the sixth member of the “family” iPerfomance. Powerplant BMW 530e consists of a 2-liter engine with twin-turbo power 184 HP, electric motor (113 HP) and a battery pack with a capacity of 9.2 kWh. The total capacity of the powerplant makes 252 HP, maximum torque of 250 Nm.
Acceleration to 100 km/h the sedan is 6.2 seconds, top speed of 235 km/h. At the same time, the hybrid can travel up to 50 kilometers in Edrive mode, that is, solely on electric. Cruising in a fully filled tank and charged battery can reach 650 kilometers.
Batteries with a capacity of 9.2 kWh is located under the rear seat, so that the Luggage compartment is almost not affected (volume — 430 litres). Fully charging the battery from a household socket takes five hours, and in the case of the 3.7-kilowatt charging station BMW i Wallbox this process will be reduced to three hours. Next year as an option for BMW 530e will be offered a wireless charging battery, in this case a full battery charge will occur for three and a half hours.
Outwardly the hybrid version is easily distinguished by a blue finish elements grille and wheel hubs, hatch for sockets in the front wing driver’s side, BMW EDRIVE badge on the rear rack, and of course 530e nameplate on the trunk lid.
