The production version of the car will be on sale next year.
BMW unveiled the concept coupe revived 8-Series. The official premiere of the prototype took place on 26 may at the competition of elegance Concorso d’eleganza Villa d’este in Italy.
“8-Series will be the next step in expanding the luxury car segment of the car and raise the bar to the next level,” said Chairman of the Board of Directors of BMW AG Harald krüger.
Some design elements 8-Series reminiscent of the Pininfarina Gran Lusso concept, presented two years ago. The car was a long hood and flared wheel arches. Also the car was equipped with a massive radiator grille, aggressive bumpers, gold brake calipers, an integrated spoiler and a sports exhaust system with two tailpipes. In addition, the novelty is equipped with laser headlamps, led L-shaped lamps and 21-inch wheels.
“BMW 8-Series based on the traditions established luxury sports two-door BMW last year, and will take the place of the dream car in our model range,” added Kruger.
The production version of the car will be on sale next year. The car will compete in the world market with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Bentley Continental GT. After the debut of the coupe 8-Series under the same index will be released convertible and GranCoupe four-door modification.
Technical characteristics of the model are still kept secret. According to unofficial data, the basic version of the model will get a six-cylinder diesel unit. Also in the range of engines will include a 4.4-liter V8. In addition, all customers will offer a hybrid modification of the compartment. Later will be presented and the sporty M-version of the machine.
The original coupe BMW 8-Series (E31 index) was produced from 1989 to 1999. A few years ago appeared in the media rumors that the Germans are planning to revive the “eight”. First test the prototype of this car was first spotted in April 2017 during the test on the “Northern loop” the Nurburgring.
