World day of tremendous discounts “black Friday” this year will be held on November 23. And even though this event is still a month and a half, many Ukrainian retailers have already announced their shares. Reporters learned that for Ukrainians this year and how not to fall for marketing tricks.
According to the largest search engine Google, over the past five years, the interest of Internet users for this event grew more than two times. This is not surprising, because, according to research by the Global platform Black Friday, discounts sometimes in excess of 70%, and people from all over the world spend this day is a decent amount (see infographic). To collect such data, the platform conducted a survey among 12 million people in 55 countries. In Ukraine the tradition of Black Friday heard 88% of Ukrainians, although the domestic stores have begun to support the event from 2014. While our compatriots on a par with the inhabitants of Western countries are ready to participate in the active “chernopyatnichnogo” shopping, shopping on this day will go of 30.09% of Ukrainians (in 2017, the figure was 18,58%).
“The majority of buyers (68,62%) was quite adventurous and decided to shop in the online and offline modes. In search of the best deals in travel for 17.65% of the respondents and of 13.73% decided to give preference to traditional shopping centres, say the authors of the study. – Our hunters discount plan to spend during “black Friday” on average, 2975 UAH ($113). That’s less than the poles and the Belarusians ($175 and $150 respectively), but more than the Turks and Kazakhs ($97 and $64),” say the authors of the study.

The results of the study confirm and Ukrainian retailers.

Traditionally more likely to buy at this time, the same products that worldwide: clothes, shoes, cosmetics, baby goods, appliances and electronics. Maximum discounts are always for clothes, shoes and accessories – up to 80%. Less generous promotional offers sellers are doing on technology and electronics. The average price is reduced by 15-20%. More significant discounts on popular products in this segment – a rarity”, – explained to us the head a press-services Prom.ua Julia Novachenko.
Shops cheat on the stock
According to retailers, the most popular gimmicks of the stores in the Mall to raise prices, then “discount” to remove from the hall things running models or sizes, to announce huge discount in the shop and put it on the minimum (only a few units) the number of goods. In the network fraud schemes even more.
“Regardless of that, a promotional product or not, you should always stick to the four main rules. The first is to adequately evaluate the value of the goods. Unreasonably large discount on an expensive item needs to be questioned. Second, pay attention to the seller ratings and customer reviews. If possible, choose a delivery option by courier with payment after or on delivery post office cash on delivery”, says Novychenko.
