Probably all heard that the movie “the Amityville Horror” , with its many sequels, a remake and every parasitical on the popularity of this franchise pictures, based on a true story that took place in the town of Amityville in the 70-ies of the last century. Direct reference to those events is present in the hit “the Conjuring 2” James WAN.
However, those feeds whose attention was focused directly on the real history of the sad known at home, always been family Lutz (or lats, depending on transcription). It is the case of Lutzen and is known worldwide as “the Amityville Horror”. However, their history has been closely connected with the history of the previous owners of this house – the Defeo family.
In the night from 13 to 14 November 1974 Robert Defeo Jr. took a rifle and killed his entire family while they slept. At trial, Defeo claimed that he had heard “voices” in the house, who ordered him to kill.
Thus, the Defeo story is, in essence, a “prequel” to the events of “the Amityville Horror”. It is not surprising that someone decided to make a movie about these murders.
The film, which is now looking for distributors sponsors at the American film market, and called “Murder in Amityville” (The Amityville Murders). However, it has another, longer name – “The Haunting on Long Island: The Amityville Murders”, which translates as “Ghosts of long island: Murder in Amityville”. It is a kind of logic, because the movie is positioned primarily as a film “from the producer of “the haunting in Connecticut”.
This is the producer in this case acts as a Director and scriptwriter. His name is Daniel Farrands, and if this name says nothing, not because the man is not proved. In fact, the list of projects on his account itself is quite impressive.
First, it really was one of the producers of the mystical Thriller “the haunting in Connecticut” (2009). Second, Farrands was a co-writer of the recent horror film “Havenhurst”. Third, among the producers of the film “the Amityville Horror: the Awakening” his name is also present. Finally, fourth, as Director Daniel managed to work on several documentaries devoted to the famous horror films. For example, “never sleep: elm street Legacy”.
In General, the man may not be a “star”, but clearly the theme in our beloved genre feels like a fish in water.
Also interesting is the cast picture. Chelsea Ricketts you could see in the recent home invasion “Jackals”, Scarlet Salem starred in the horror “the House, cheaper by the dozen” and “My uncle John – zombie”. They are lainie Kazan (“Pixels”), John Robinson (“don’t”, “the Uninvited guest”) and John Mack (“Laventhol”).
