Cold rhinitis – so-called rhinitis, which occurs because of temperature changes. Doctors say that it occurs almost every second.
A runny nose occurs due to the fact that when it’s cold outside – the body tries to warm the air we breathe, so as not to irritate the lungs.
Cold and dry air affects the nerve endings in your nose. The human brain responds to this pulse and increases blood flow to the nose. Thus, dilated blood vessels heat the air that passes through the nose. Due to this, through the respiratory organs is allocated to 400 ml of fluid per day.
The heating of the air in the nose means that the mucous membrane that lines the nasal cavity becomes cooler. At the same time water is evaporated so that the air you breathe moist. When this mechanism is disturbed and the humidity exceeds the desired level – there is a cold rhinitis.
This situation most often occurs in people with allergies, eczema, chronic respiratory diseases.
