The island nation of Vanuatu, located in the South-Western part of the Pacific accepts bitcoins as payment on the program of obtaining citizenship.
For a passport of that state is required to pay $200 thousand at the current exchange rate of bitcoin on the BitStamp exchange ($4644), banatsko citizenship can be purchased for 43,01 BTC.
“There are some suspicions about the use of cryptocurrency in financial transactions and concerns about the fact that they can be used for doing unwanted activities. However, cryptocurrencies exist in a fully monitored registry, where you can see the entire history of their creation and bidding,” – said the head of the Network of information centres, Vanuatu James Harris.
The state operates a visa-free regime allowing residents to visit the 113 countries, including the UK, Russia and the countries of the European Union.
Earlier it was reported that the cryptocurrency exchange HitBTC expressed support for Segregated Witness Protocol, which will lead to lower transaction fees in bitcoins.
