Became known the biggest fears of Ukrainians

According to the survey, among the main fears of Ukrainians is dominated by rising prices, unemployment, unpaid wages and pensions.

Among the main fears of Ukrainians is dominated by economic: rising prices, unemployment, unpaid wages and pensions. About it it is spoken in presented today on a press-conferences in Kiev the results of a survey conducted by the Institute of sociology of NAS of Ukraine in cooperation with the charitable Foundation “Intellectual perspective”.

According to the survey, price increases are afraid of 77,1% of the respondents, unemployment is 60.6 per cent, unpaid wages and pensions – 62,7%. It is noted that fears of price growth ranks first in all regions, but most of that was remembered by the inhabitants of the Eastern regions of Ukraine (87%), and relatively less – Western (66%).

Also among the most significant fears – the growth of crime (42,8%) and attack of an external enemy (38.3 per cent). The fear of an attack of an external enemy more often mentioned by the residents of the Western region (48%). Sociologists have noticed that during the time of the survey (year 2000-2017) the most significant changes in the structure of fears of Ukrainians took place in 2014, when sharply increased the fear of possible attack of an external enemy to Ukraine (from 7% in 2012 to 60% in 2014), the fear of the collapse of Ukraine as a state (12% in 2012 to 46% in 2014), fear of possible ethnic conflicts (C11% in 2012 to 35% in 2014), and fears of street riots (C17% in 2012 to 33% in 2014).

“However, over the last three years, these fears are greatly weakened, and in 2017 is relatively high is the fear the attack of an external enemy to Ukraine (38%), but concerns over ethnic conflicts, mass riots and the collapse of Ukraine as a state became somewhat smaller (respectively,17%, 21% and 28%)”, – stated in the survey results. The survey was conducted from 3 to 25 July 2017 by quota sample representing the adult population starting from the age of 17.

The survey was conducted in all regions of Ukraine (except AR Crimea and occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions) using personal interviews at the place of residence of the respondents. Altogether, 1.8 thousand people. Sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.

As previously reported, the vast majority of Ukraine’s population (about 63%) are proud that they are citizens of Ukraine. It is noted that this percentage increased significantly starting in 2014: in 2013, were proud of the citizenship of Ukraine to 48% in 2014 – 60% 2015 – 67%, 2016 – 60% 2017 63%.
